Our practice provides a comprehensive but focused veterinary service to horses, ponies, donkeys and to their owners. We look at each of our equine patients as individuals and always take the time to try to notice and identify the various existing, potential and developing problems which can accumulate silently in stoical and obliging animals. We have the experience to look at an animal’s soundness with both a well-practised eye, and an incisive approach to lameness and poor performance, which we have refined over more than twenty years. We understand that discomforts and problems often cause further discomforts and problems elsewhere, and that these inter-relationships need to be understood for a horse to be truly comfortable and free moving. We also provide all other veterinary services from breeding and artificial insemination to geriatric care with an emphasis on preventative medicine and a 24-hour on-call service, In the rare cases where surgery under general anaesthesia is needed, we will refer to a centre of your choice, including in an emergency. While we naturally visit your animal at it’s home, we favour larger investigations at our own clinic where you will be made welcome and can stay to watch. We have found that in our familiar environment, with experienced staff, and having the patient away from their home environment we can deliver a better and more accurate service.
For the owner we provide a personal and compassionate service where we get to know you and know your animal. We always try to understand your circumstances and what you want to achieve with your horses, in combination with keeping your animals healthy and comfortable.
We believe that sound and comfortable horses are the best company, are less prone to injury, and turn in the best performances. We are always keen to explain things and involve clients as we are pleased when owners are interested and involved. Our experience finds that when owners are on board in a team effort, the end result is in the animal’s interest and is usually achieved more quickly too.
If you are interested in your horse as an individual, their wellbeing and their soundness, and you want to get the best out of them then we may very well be the practice for you. If you would like to join our practice, please phone the practice on a weekday morning. We can answer any questions you may have and send you a new client form. If you do wish to go ahead and join us we will ask your permission to run a basic credit and identity check and ask your previous practice if you have any outstanding accounts when we request the clinical records.
Our practice has a policy of requiring all animals to be declared in their passports as never being destined for human consumption. This allows us to use a full range of veterinary drugs to safeguard our patients’ welfare.
